Saudi Health Ministry Approves NAHCON Clinics For 2026 Hajj Operations

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has received official approval and operational licences from the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its medical clinics and healthcare outposts established for Nigerian pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj.

The licences, which were issued on Monday, 11 May 2026, authorise NAHCON’s medical personnel to commence full healthcare operations for pilgrims across designated locations in the Kingdom during the pilgrimage season.

The development is regarded as a major boost to Nigeria’s Hajj operations, as it guarantees that Nigerian pilgrims will have access to immediate medical attention and primary healthcare services throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.

According to NAHCON, the approved clinics have been strategically positioned in key areas of Makkah to cater for the health needs of thousands of Nigerian pilgrims in the holy land. The facilities will provide essential medical services, including consultations, first aid, treatment of minor ailments, routine health checks, and emergency medical support.

The Commission explained that the move is part of its broader commitment to ensuring the welfare, safety, and well-being of pilgrims during the physically demanding pilgrimage.

NAHCON also reiterated that pilgrims seeking treatment at any of its clinics must present their Nusuk Card alongside their International Passport for proper identification and medical documentation, in line with Saudi health regulations and operational procedures for the Hajj.

For cases requiring specialised or advanced medical care, pilgrims will be referred to accredited Saudi hospitals, including the renowned King Fahd Hospital and other designated healthcare facilities within the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Commission disclosed that its Madinah Clinic has already been fully operational for the past four days, attending to Nigerian pilgrims currently in the city and providing round-the-clock medical support.

The licensed NAHCON medical facilities include the clinic located in the Shara Sittin area of Makkah, situated at Hotel Humaira on Umm Al-Qura Street near the old Al-Maatani Petrol Station; the Misfalah Clinic in the Al-Tadwa area, housed within the Maatouq Al Qarhi Hotel behind Millennium Hotel on Ibrahim Khalil Street; and the Mansour Street Clinic located at Niger House No. 1 behind Muasasat Alnaqd in Makkah.

Observers say the successful licensing of the clinics highlights strong collaboration between Nigerian Hajj authorities and Saudi health officials and reflects NAHCON’s determination to provide efficient healthcare services for pilgrims.

With the influx of pilgrims into Saudi Arabia gathering momentum ahead of the main Hajj rites, the Commission noted that adequate medical preparedness remains a key component of its operational strategy for a smooth and successful 2026 pilgrimage exercise.
