She stated this during a three-day seminar organised by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance for academic staff yesterday.

The seminar, held at the 500-Seat Lecture Theater on the university’s main campus in Gadau, brought together 75 participants from various departments.

Professor Tahir emphasized that academic staff form the backbone of the university, and their quality is directly reflected in the institution’s output, “The university’s output is a reflection of the caliber of its staff, especially the academic staff,” she stated.

She further highlighted that the quality of academic staff is evident in the graduates the university produces. She noted that academic staff not only impart knowledge but also shape students’ character, which is why university certificates attest to both learning and character.

Commending the Directorate of Academic Planning for organizing the seminar, she described it as an essential orientation programme for newly hired staff.

“This seminar should be conducted whenever new staff members are employed, especially for those joining from other institutions or entering the university system for the first time,” she said.

She encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge.

In his remarks, the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Aliyu, stressed the importance of the seminar in advancing the university’s mission of academic excellence.

He noted that the sessions would focus on key areas, including teaching, research, community service, and university administration.

Dr. Aliyu urged participants to approach the seminar with an open mind, emphasizing that it would serve as a valuable learning experience.

He also expressed gratitude to the vice chancellor for her unwavering support in organizing the workshop and her continuous efforts to uphold academic excellence at the university.

The seminar is part of the university’s broader initiative to strengthen the capacity of its academic staff and equip them with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality education.

A similar seminar is scheduled to take place at the Yuli Campus on February 17, accommodating an additional 75 participants, bringing the total number of attendees to 150.
