CP Disu said since his resumption as the commissioner of police in the federal capital, he has received several reports about the activities of these scavengers, and he has decided to handle the issues.
The police commissioner said he visited the partaker sites in Gwarinpa, Mpape, and Dawaki to obtain firsthand information.

He expressed sadness with the Panteker site in Mpape, where over 50 dogs were let loose when the police team arrived there and noted that such an act showed that the people in Panteker are violent, and the police will have to look into that.

The CP also stated that the Panteker markets are known for receiving stolen goods and other dubious businesses and warned that such will not be tolerated in the FCT.
He noted that the police would consult the leaders of these partaker markets and sensitise them to report any suspicious movement or business.

In May 2024, the FCP police paraded 152 scavengers for allegedly stealing various household items and government property.
