The African Director of the International Association Of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), Amb. John Metchie, has commiserated with the government and people of Plateau State over the collapse of a school building, which left many students dead and others critically injured.

The Eminent Peace Ambassador made this known in a statement made available to journalists wherein he called for calm as investigations into the actual cause of the ugly incident were being carried out by the concerned authorities.

He sympathised with the parents of the students, who lost their lives, on behalf of the association, stressing the need for authorities to ensure that building contractors are supervised to comply with the stipulated engineering specifications.

Amb. Metchie urged Nigerians to pray for the repose of the souls of the departed while urging them to assist in any aid work that will ameliorate the sufferings of those that were in very critical need of assistance especially medically.

“This is a period of sober reflection not only for the people of Plateau State but for the country and the globe in general.

“We feel the pains of everybody involved in this period of mourning and we as an association that loves to see people happy and living in peace, we are sympathising with the people of the state even as we enjoin everybody not minding our tribal or religious divides to come together in prayers for the repose of those that are dead while also praying for comfort of the parents and loved ones of the departed. This ugly incident should unite rather than separate us all,” Amb. Metchie said.

Recall that Plateau State was thrown into mourning when a section of a popular private school in the state collapsed last week, killing some students and injuring others while the school was still in session.
