The former PDP members from the Egbeda and Ona Ara local government areas announced their defection at an APC meeting held at Elekuro High School, Olorunsogo, Ibadan.

It was gathered that the event, which was held at the weekend, was attended by an APC aspirant for Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency, Kazeem Akinola, Yinka Folarin, Shina Adeagbo, Bola Fawole and Alhaji Agbedo.

Akinola welcomed the defectors to the APC on behalf of other party members.

According to him, it is time for Ona Ara to produce a member representing the federal constituency.

He said, “I am excited to be with you today. You know where we are coming from, where we are, and where we are going. For this project, I am happy with the turnout at the meeting. You know me as a party man over the years.

“You rally around me over the years, I appreciate it, and I don’t take it for granted. It’s time for Ona-Ara LGA to produce the House of Representatives, Egbeda LGA has done it for 8 years uninterruptedly.”

APC chairman in Ona Ara LGA, Alhaji Abdulwasiu Ogundipe, appreciated God for keeping all party members safe and secure

He described APC as a progressive party that prioritises peace.

Ogundipe appealed to all party members to spread love and unity among themselves, reiterating that the party at the state level had endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term.

A former chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government, Biliaminu Ogundele, called for calm.

Ogundele stressed that no internal faction could single-handedly win the election without the support of others.
