Ahead of today’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) national convention, a female presidential aspirant, Dorathy Nuhu Aken’Ova, has stepped down for her opponent, Barr Adewole Adebayo.

Dorathy said she withdrew because SDP zoned its presidential ticket to the South.

Speaking when she visited Adebayo in his campaign office, Dorathy said: “I have come to affirm a number of things I am passionate about concerning Nigeria.

“I was in the race before today which has been zoned to the South West and it has ruled me out of the race.

“I have stepped down from my aspiration. My reasons for seeking for the highest office of the land was not about me but to work for a turn around,” Dorathy said, while calling on her supporters to work for Adebayo.

“I have now identified an eligible candidate whom we share common things with. I am rallying round Prince Adewole Adebayo.

“All my supporters, party members and Nigerians should rally round us for victory. This decision was taken with full support of my supporters and campaign team. I wanted to bring a proper change but haven realised that Adebayo can do the same.

“I solicit for an untiring support and let us work harder not relenting until we clinch the ladder under our leader, Prince Adewole Adebayo,” Dorathy said.

On his part, Prince Adewole Adebayo, announced that Dorathy is his campaign director on contact and mobilisation.

“Today is not about me, it’s about her and since we mate I’ve followed her campaign, we’ve learned alot from her. She is someone people know.

“Today, she is helping us with her campaign, today she is the Director of Mass Mobilisation and Civic Engagement,” Adebayo added.
