Former Executive Director Housing Finance and Accounts, Federal Housing Authority and governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Mathias Terwase Byuan, has asked governor Hyacinth Alia to secure the lives and property of the Benue people or resign.

Byuan while condemning the recent killing of citizens by suspected herdsmen in Mbalom, Gwer East local government of state said he will secure Benue from insecurity.

The statement issued by the Director Media, DMB governorship campaign organization, Akange Nyagba, Byuan said his priority when elected Governor in 2027 would be to protect the people from external and internal aggression, adding that attacks by herdsmen will be dealt with decisively.

According to the statement, “Dr Mathias Terwase Byuan has condemned the recent killing of innocent citizens by armed herdsmen in Mbalom, Gwer East local government of Benue State.
Reacting to the Easter Sunday attack which killed dozens of innocent civilians in their homes, the governorship aspirant lamented the unprovoked and incessant attacks on Benue communities unchallenged, saying the present leadership has failed to protect the lives of its citizens and did not deserve their mandate”

“Dr Byuan who reminded the Alia led administration that the primary purpose of government was to secure lives and property, challenged the government to rise to its responsibility or quit”
