The security agent, it was gathered, was called upon to mediate in a dispute between two individuals within the school premises when the incident happened.

While attempting to defuse the situation, the officer allegedly discharged shots into the air to disperse the students which resulted to the killing of the yet-to-be-identified student, while two others were wounded in the incident.

Reacting to the occurrence, LAUTECH students took to the streets in protest, barricading the school gates while demanding justice for the victim.

Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation is ongoing.

“Investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided accordingly,” Osifeso said.
