Ahead of today’s All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election, heavy security presence has been sighted at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja, the state capital.

An unusual appearance of security operatives that comprises the conventional policemen, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) as well as the special forces and the counter terrorism unit of the Nigeria Police Force is  generating suspicions on the eve of the primary election.

LEADERSHIP Friday reliably gathered that the governor had earlier called a meeting that is expected to have critical stakeholders of the party including the governorship aspirants and the state and National Assembly members-elect in attendance.

Apart from the security at the state secretariat that has been beefed up, military vehicles have since been patrolling the streets of Lokoja while the governorship aspirants are already trooping into Lokoja with their supporters. The APC’s choice of direct mode of primary election has generated a lot of controversies.
