A Chief Magistrate Court in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory, adjourned the case between BCGNEEDS Company, a United States-based security firm, and Mr Bright Echefu, owner of Briech Intelligence Fusion Limited.

The security firm sued Mr Echefu for allegedly breaching a $651,280 security contract agreement.
On November 19, 2024, Chief Magistrate Okechukwu John Akweke ordered the arrest of Mr Echefu following his failure to appear before the court to defend the allegations.

At the last adjourned date, Echefu’s lawyer informed the court that his client was not within the court’s jurisdiction and requested that the court allow him time to produce the defendant upon his return.

However, on Tuesday, during yesterday’s proceedings, counsel to BCGNEEDS, Barrister John Paul Eze, told the court that the defendant had not appeared for the last two adjournments.

He noted that at the previous adjourned date, his counsel had pleaded with the court that Echefu would appear on December 9.

During the court’s proceedings, Eze told the court that the defendant filed a motion at a higher court to review the Magistrate Court’s order.

In his response, Chief Magistrate Akweke advised Barrister Eze to file the necessary documents at the higher court to challenge the defendant’s application.

The court stated that the matter had already been before a higher court and could not proceed unless the superior court referred it back.

“If the higher court returns the case file to this court, the case will continue. In the interim, this case is adjourned sine die,” the magistrate ruled.

Earlier, BCGNEEDS had informed the court that Mr Bright Echefu’s company, Briech Intelligence Fusion Limited, allegedly breached a contract agreement to supply drones and accessories.

According to BCGNEEDS, it agreed with Mr Echefu’s company to supply drones and accessories worth $651,280 via a Local Purchase Order with Ref BIFC/LPO/TS/ABJ/088106 dated October 21, 2022.

BCGNEEDS stated that after the delivery of the drones and accessories, it could not reach Mr Echefu.
