A total of three suspects comprising a security guard have been apprehended by the Borno State Police Command for allegedly stealing 19 sewing machine heads from the Dala Lawanti Skills Acquisition Centre in Maiduguri.
Sources, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert, said that the security guard, 34-year-old Kaka Modu Mustapha, conspired with two teenagers, Bukar Mustapha, 16, and Ibrahim Mohammed, 17, to steal the machines on March 22.
“So far, six of the stolen sewing machine heads have been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to retrieve the remaining items,” the source said.
It was also gathered that the suspects were being held in police custody and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
The Dala Lawanti Skills Acquisition Centre is a community project conceived to empower the youth and women through vocational training.
