The Executive Director in charge of Natural Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development at the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Dr Cliff Ogbede has commended Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma for the scale of infrastructure and urban renewal projects taking place across the state.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja at the weekend, Ogbede said the governor’s administration has altered the outlook of both Owerri, the state capital and other parts of the state within a relatively short time.
He cited the newly completed Assumpta Flyover, the International Conference Centre named after the late statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the dualisation of major approach roads into Owerri, and the reconstruction of the Concorde Hotel as projects that have redefined the capital’s landscape.
According to him, the restoration of Concorde Hotel particularly, recalls the standing it once enjoyed when built by the administration of the late Chief Sam Mbakwe.
He also pointed to ongoing investments in the power sector aimed at improving electricity supply across the state.
Ogbede urged the governor to sustain the pace of development, noting that the projects already completed have set a benchmark for further progress.
He said, “The entire State, and the capital city, Owerri, in particular, have witnessed unprecedented transformation to the delight of the good people of Imo State
Governor Hope Uzodimma deserves to be celebrated for the unprecedented development he has brought to Imo State”.
“We are proud to commend Governor Uzodimma because under him, Imo is rising. Imo Concorde is being renovated to a world class status it enjoyed during the Mbakwe era”, he added.
