Professor of Computer Engineering, Segun Aina, has officially assumed office as the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Aina took over as Board Chair on Friday from Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose two-term tenure of 10 years ended on July 31, 2026. The handover ceremony took place at JAMB’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

LEADERSHIP recalls that President Bola Tinubu had, on May 21, appointed Aina as the substantive registrar of JAMB to succeed Oloyede. At 39, he becomes the youngest person ever to serve as the board’s registrar.

Announcing the appointment, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Aina as “a distinguished academic and systems expert with extensive experience in national examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector institutional reform.”

Onanuga noted that Aina became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering at 39 and has now made history as JAMB’s youngest registrar.

In his inaugural address, Aina pledged to uphold the integrity and credibility of the examination body while strengthening its use of modern technology to combat examination malpractice.

He warned individuals involved in examination fraud to abandon such activities, saying there would be no room for malpractice under his leadership.

Aina also assured that JAMB would continue to work closely with security agencies to enhance the integrity, transparency, and credibility of its examinations nationwide.
