Actress Selma Blair has publicly apologised after her arrest on assault charges following an incident aboard a Delta flight earlier this month.
The 54-year-old addressed the matter in an emotional Instagram video on Friday, October 30, marking her first public comments since her October 11 arrest.
Blair said she had remained silent for several weeks because of an ongoing legal matter and advice from her lawyers.
“I have never intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life,” she told followers, apologising to those she may have disappointed, hurt or alarmed.
She also thanked people who had reached out with messages of support, saying their kindness had meant a great deal to her and her son.
Blair was arrested after the flight arrived at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. She appeared in court on October 12 and pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault. She was subsequently released on bail.
The actress said she would now focus on her health and caring for her son while the legal proceedings continue.
