As Nigeria joins other nations to celebrate International Women’s Day, the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli, has called for greater gender inclusion of women in the scheme of things.
The senator, who congratulated women in Nigeria and the world, acknowledged their immense contributions to national development.
Alli in a statement he signed yesterday in Ibadan, described women as pillars of families, communities and nations, noting that their resilience, intelligence and dedication continue to drive progress in various sectors of society.
The senator said the annual celebration serves as a reminder of the need to promote gender equality, expand opportunities for women and eliminate barriers that hinder their full participation in leadership and development.
He commended Nigerian women for their roles in politics, business, education, health and other professions, stressing that their contributions remain vital to sustainable growth and societal stability.
Alli urged governments, institutions and stakeholders to intensify efforts aimed at empowering women through quality education, economic opportunities as well as supportive policies.
According to him, investing in women and girls will not only strengthen families but also accelerate national development and help build a more inclusive and prosperous society.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives and policies that promote women’s rights, empowerment and welfare.
He wished all women a meaningful and inspiring International Women’s Day celebration.
