The senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung, has celebrated his birthday with orphans, widows and other vulnerable persons across Southern Kaduna.

The senator who made donations of food items, toiletries, soaps, detergents and cash to three orphanage centres, said the gesture was aimed at caring for the underprivileged as well as the vulnerable members of the society.

The items were donated separately at the Rafiki Orphanage Home, the ECWA Widows’ Training School in Zangon Kataf local government area and at the Gweimen Centre in Jaba local government area.

At the three centres, Senator Katung explained that the gesture was borne out of his desire to assist vulnerable members of society.

Speaking at the Rafiki Orphanage, the leader of the team and former Kaduna State commissioner for Local Government, Yohanna Allahmagani, said the distribution of the items was part of the lawmaker’s effort to promote unity, love and kindness in his constituency.

Allahmagani emphasised that the choice to celebrate in such a setting reflects a philosophy that prioritises human connection over ceremony, and service over self.

He reiterated Senator Katung’s enduring belief that leadership must be measured by its impact on the most vulnerable members of the society.

At the Widows Training Centre in Samaru Kataf, the leader of the team, a former member of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Comfort Amwe, said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by the widows and supporting them in navigating current economic challenges.

She also called on the beneficiaries to continue praying for Senator Katung, asking God to grant him greater heights.

At the Gewimen Centre for the Vulnerable at Kwoi, the leader of the team, Kingsley Musa reiterated Senator Katung’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people especially the under privilege members of the society.

In their separate remarks, the principal of the Widow School, Sarah J. Bature, and the executive director of the Gweimen Centre, Beatrice Kadangs expressed deep appreciation for the kind gesture, noting that words were not enough to convey their gratitude.
