Senate Committee on Health has praised Dr Yusuf Muhammad Abdullahi, the chief medical director of Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, for upgrading the hospital’s infrastructure.
Its chairperson, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, a former deputy governor of Rivers State, expressed her satisfaction with the hospital’s expansion work, which aims to enhance its patient services.
During an oversight visit to the hospital in Gombe, Banigo commended Dr Abdullahi’s commitment to improving the hospital’s facilities.
She also acknowledged the efforts of Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his health care initiatives, including the Gombe State Health Care Contributory Scheme (Go-Health), saying it provides accessibility to health care to all residents.
The committee pledged to work with relevant authorities to address the high electricity bills faced by many federal health institutions in the country.
In his remarks, the CMD welcomed the committee’s support in addressing the hospital’s lingering issues, particularly the high electricity charges.
