The Convener of Power Sector Stakeholders, Alhaji Aliyu Momodu, has urged the Senate to confirm Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

He said that at a time when Nigeria must move boldly towards digital transformation in power regulation, grid monitoring, data analytics, and transparency, Engr. Ramat’s strong background in Information Technology is exactly the kind of leadership the sector needs.

According to him, Engr. Ramat’s expertise aligns perfectly with the modern, technology-driven direction required to stabilise and strengthen the country’s electricity ecosystem.

“We join countless Nigerians in urging the Distinguished Senate to conclude his confirmation without further delay. This is a national duty, and the sector urgently requires credible, reform-minded, technology-focused leadership.

“With President Tinubu’s economic policies rewriting new waves of investment diplomacy, with an influx of funds into oil and gas, mining, and the textile industry, this is the time for the power sector to join the momentum to address its long-standing liquidity challenges.

“This demands leaders who embody integrity, professionalism, and forward-thinking vision m and Engr. Ramat stands firmly among such leaders,” he added.
