According to a statement by Muawiyah Yusuf Muye, the media adviser to Senator Bello, the delegation, led by former Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Adamu Usman, a former member of the House of Representatives and former chief of staff to the senator, Hon. Mikhail Al-Amin Bmitosahi, was received at the palace of the Ndalile of Mokwa, His Royal Highness Alhaji Shaba Aliyu, by the vice chairman of the Mokwa local government council.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Sani Bello, Rt. Hon. Usman conveyed the senator’s heartfelt condolences to the victims and the entire Mokwa community.

“Senator Sani Bello specifically asked us to represent him in conveying his deepest sympathies to the people of Mokwa. Though currently on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, he is deeply saddened by this tragic event.

“He described the situation as not only shocking but unimaginable. In times like these, he believes the best we can do is to stand in solidarity and provide relief,” the former speaker stated.

In his remarks, Hon. Bmitosahi said, “His Excellency, the former governor of Niger State and now distinguished senator representing Niger North, personally called and asked me to extend his condolences to the families who lost loved ones.

He prayed for the repose of the departed souls and for divine restoration for those who lost their properties.

“In a gesture of solidarity, he directed me to announce a donation of ₦50 million to support the victims in rebuilding their lives.”

Hon. Bmitosahi further noted that Senator Sani Bello requested the immediate collection of the relief fund’s account details to ensure the prompt transfer of the ₦50 million support.

Responding on behalf of the Mokwa community, His Royal Highness Alhaji Shaba Aliyu, the Ndalile of Mokwa, expressed profound gratitude to Senator Sani Bello for his compassion and generosity.

“We deeply appreciate this visit and the Senator’s kind gesture. While we accept this tragedy as the will of Allah, it remains an unexpected calamity. Our town has no history of a running river or flooding of this magnitude.

To wake up to such chaos and loss is deeply sobering. Nonetheless, we take solace in faith and the support of compassionate leaders.”

The delegation later visited the ground zero site of the disaster.
