Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, who represents Niger North and chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, has distributed starter packs to 200 constituents for small and medium-scale businesses.
The 200 constituents who have completed training in various vocational trades were distributed over the weekend in Kontagora, Niger state, through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
The distribution marked the official graduation of beneficiaries who underwent an intensive skills acquisition program three months ago.
The Starter packs were distributed across diverse trades, including barbing, phone repairs, tailoring, shoemaking, catering, hairdressing, and liquid soap production.
Similarly, the Senator presented motorcycles to some beneficiaries, with persons with disabilities receiving specially customised tricycles and mobility aids to enhance their productivity.
The chairman of Kontagora local government area, Shehu Pawa, who hosted the event, commended the senator’s efforts in ensuring that empowerment goes beyond training and into actual tools for practice.
The Niger North APC Zonal Chairman, Hon. Yahya Borgu, who stood in for the State Party Chairman, praised Senator Sani Bello’s consistency in delivering empowerment programs.
