The senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Dr Tony Nwoye, has sponsored a one-day free integrated medical/surgical outreach for the people of the zone.
The outreach organised by the lawmaker in partnership with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) was held simultaneously at two centres in the senatorial zone on Friday to carter for both urban and rural dwellers.
Speaking at Anaky Event Centre, the Abata Nsugbe venue of the medical outreach for urban dwellers, Senator Nwoye lamented that several people in the constituency have lost their lives as a result of ignorance of their health status while some others died due to lack of funds to obtain proper medical care.
Nwoye who is also a medical doctor said, “Several people in this Senatorial zone have lost their lives to treatable diseases, while some died because they didn’t have the money to pay for proper medical services.”
The medical outreach for rural dwellers was organised at the Community Primary School, Uno Akwukwo Ndida, Nsugbe.
Senator Nwoye also donated the sum of N15 million to the beneficiaries of the medical outreach and instructed the organisers of the programme to distribute N7.5million to each of the two centres.
The lawmaker said he prioritised provision of the free medical services to improve the life expectancy of the people adding that the medical intervention was strategically chosen to help his constituents understand their health status.
Senator Nwoye said that the medical outreach included diagnosing the health of the beneficiaries and treatment of ailments found.
