A former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has promised to revive the health care delivery system in Owerri Zone.

He expressed commitment to eradicating maternal and infant mortality across the Imo East Senatorial District if elected senator in next year.

Madumere, Imo East  senatorial  candidate, under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made pledge when he interacted with reporters in Owerri, the state capital.

He lamented the unnecessary loss of mothers and newborns as a preventable situation that can no longer be left unchecked in a zone blessed with abundant human resources.

He said, “Every mother in our rural communities deserves a qualitative, affordable and  accessible healthcare delivery system. No woman should face danger while delivering a baby.     Every  life  matters, and  we are going to work assiduously to fix the health sector  in Owerri Zone.”

According to him, Nigeria’s global index rating in this regard requires urgent attention, as more should be done to help reduce the situation.

Prince Madumere, the paradigm shift advocate, revealed that issues such as the shortage of primary healthcare facilities, the shortage of professional birth personnel, inadequate emergency obstetric care, and restricted access to antenatal and postnatal services will be addressed head-on when elected as Senator in the 2027 general elections.

Prince Madumere, the top contender for the Owerri Senatorial Seat, however, highlighted that his international exposure gave him insight into the world’s best medical practices. He submitted that the same would be replicated in Imo East as soon as he assumes office, by the special  Grace of God.

As someone with international exposure and experience, I am abreast with the health care needs of my people. I appreciate that health is wealth and that every development revolves around health. Together, we will create an environment in which the health of the citizenry takes precedence.

Prince Madumere, human capital development expert, submitted that upgrading and equipping Primary Healthcare Centres, and prioritising the renovation and equipping of functional primary healthcare centres in every ward, would receive adequate attention.

The Owerri Senatorial zone hopeful indicated that training and retention of professional health personnel would be ongoing. At the same time, paying adequate attention to the equipment used by nurses and rural health workers to maximise productivity.

Prince Madumere explained that the Journey of Grace blueprint is all-encompassing and conversant with the heartbeat of the people.

Call on the electorate, stakeholders, and all citizens of Owerri zone to develop a positive mindset and jump on this train, which is heading to the right destination, where our heart desires will be delivered speedily. I, Prince Eze Madumere, have done it before and set to rekindle the same as a new Owerri Zone is possible, by the Special Grace of God.”
