In a spirited friendly match held on Saturday Senegal secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Peru, marking their first game since the Confederation of African Football (CAF) controversially stripped them of their AFCON title, awarding it instead to Morocco.

The match once again showcased Senegal’s resilience and determination to rise above recent challenges.

The first half saw Senegal dominate possession and create numerous chances. Jackson opened the scoring in the 41st minute, finishing a well-placed cross from Ibrahim Mbaye with a right-footed shot from close range. The goal highlighted Senegal’s attacking prowess and their ability to capitalize on set pieces.

The second half continued in a similar vein, with Senegal maintaining pressure on the Peruvian defense. Ismaïla Sarr doubled the lead in the 54th minute with a powerful shot to the bottom right corner, showcasing his skill and precision.

Peru struggled to find their rhythm throughout the match, managing few clear-cut chances despite a spirited effort. Their best opportunities came late in the game, but Senegal’s goalkeeper, Mory Diaw, was in fine form, making crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Peru’s Jairo Concha attempted a long-range shot that sailed over the bar in 87th minute. A corner for Peru led to a saved shot from Adrián Quiróz, keeping Senegal’s defense intact.
