Similarly, Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin led a delegation of senators to Katsina State for the funeral.

In his condolence message, Senator Barau prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive Hajiya Dada’s shortcomings and grant her entry to Jannatul Firdaus. He also encouraged Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua and others she left behind to find solace in the fact that she led a righteous life devoted to the service of Allah and humanity.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023 general election, Peter Obi, were also in Katsina to pay their last respects to Hajiya Dada.

The Senate delegation included Senator Abdulhamid Malam-Madori, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs; Senator Muntari Dandutse, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TetFund; and Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology.

Hajiya Dada, the mother of the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua and Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, was buried on Tuesday in Katsina following funeral prayers at the Katsina Township Stadium, Yar’Adua Quarters, Katsina State.

Her virtuous life inspired all who knew her; her righteousness and high moral values contributed to the development of successful and patriotic leaders in the country. May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commiserated with the Yar’Adua family over the passing of Hajiya Dada.

Hajiya Dada, mother of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, passed away on Monday at a venerable age.

According to a statement from presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu also extended his condolences to Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the people of Katsina State, and the many lives touched by the late matriarch.

The President mourned Hajiya Dada while lauding her compassion, faith, honesty, and legacy of fellowship.

President Tinubu prayed for the repose of her soul and affirmed that the beloved matriarch of the Yar’Adua family would always be remembered for the support, peace, joy, and comfort she provided to many.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has also expressed condolences to the Yar’Adua family, the government, and the people of Katsina State following the death of Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of his friend and classmate, the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.

The late Dada was also the mother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua.

In a statement from his media aide, Garba Shehu, the former president expressed deep sadness at the passing of the Yar’Adua family matriarch.

He said, “The news of Dada’s passing is extremely sad. She was a mother who cared for her family as she did for us, her children’s friends.

“Her virtuous life inspired us and all who came close to her; her righteousness and high moral values fostered a generation of successful and patriotic leaders. May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus.”
