The lnspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has taken over the investigation into the death of late Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, Mrs. Shimite Bello Love.
The development followed a petition by the family against the Delta State Police Command, accusing it of “untidy investigation”
While the female Pharmacist who treated the deceased at home before her death was said to have been arrested, the whereabouts of the husband was also said to be unknown, ostensibly on the run.
The earlier burial plans scheduled for 27th of June at her home town in Ebu, Oshimili North local government area of Delta State, was equally said to be facing threat.
The Head of Nwakalor family, Chief (Barr) Kimashinor Nwakalor-Imu stated that “the case involving the murder of Shimite Bello is currently under investigation by the IGP Monitoring Unit.”
“The IGP’s Monitoring Unit has since taken over the case file from Asaba Command as well as a Pharmacist who administered both oral and intravenous to Shitime 24 hours before her death”.
Nwakalor-Imu further alleged that the deceased’s husband is presently on the run saying, “Mr Love is presently on the run from the Police. The Asaba (Delta) Police command who set him free cannot locate him as all his known lines have been switched off”, he allegedly claimed.
Confirming the case transfer, the Delta Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said, “Case has been transferred to Force Headquarters”.
Recall that Mrs Bello was confirmed dead at about 3:30 a.m. on Easter Monday at St Luke’s Hospital Asaba where she was rushed to which triggered public concerns and suspicions about the circumstances surrounding her death.
