The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered locally made pistol and 14 rounds of ammunition in Amanekwula Village in Ezza South local government area of the state.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer ,PPRO, SP Joshua Ukandu and made available to LEADERSHIP, he said that men of the command stormed the area following reports of sporadic gunshots by suspected hoodlums in the area.
He said: “Men of the State Command in our continued efforts in combating criminal activities across the state, On 21/10/2025, acting on credible intelligence carried out a successful operation at Amanekwula Village in Ezza South Local Government Area following reports of sporadic gunshots by suspected hoodlums.”
He said that on sighting the police team, the hoodlums attempted to flee into a nearby bush; however, the operatives pursued and apprehended two suspects identified as Chigbo Eze and Igbele Osinachi. Recovered from the suspects were one locally-made pistol and fourteen (14) rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
SP Ukandu said that the suspects are currently in the police custody adding that the command has commenced intensified investigation to uncover other members of the criminal gang.
“They will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.”
The PPRO said that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya has also reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and urges residents to continue to support the police with timely and credible information to ensure a safer Ebonyi State.
