Nigerian winger Moses Simon reached a significant career milestone on Sunday as he made his 200th appearance in Ligue 1 during Paris FC’s goalless draw away to RC Strasbourg Alsace at the Stade de la Meinau.
Although the match ended without goals, the occasion carried special significance for the 29-year-old, whose landmark appearance highlighted years of consistency and resilience in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
With the achievement, Simon becomes only the second Nigerian player to reach the 200-match mark in the French top flight, joining compatriot John Utaka. Utaka remains the Nigerian with the most appearances in Ligue 1, having played 239 matches across spells with RC Lens, Stade Rennais and Montpellier HSC.
Simon’s path to the milestone has been built on steady progress and sustained impact. The Nigerian international established himself during a six-season stint with FC Nantes, where he became a key figure in the club’s attack.
During his time with the Canaries, he made 177 league appearances, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists while earning a reputation as one of the division’s most effective wide players.
Last summer, Simon embarked on a new chapter by joining Paris FC as part of the club’s growing ambitions in the French top flight. He has quickly settled into his new surroundings, contributing three goals and two assists in 23 league appearances.
While Sunday’s stalemate did not add to his goal tally, the match marked another defining moment in Simon’s career, further cementing his place among the most accomplished Nigerian players to grace the French game.
