Sokoto State government has allocated land, free for the construction of Sokoto Renewed Hope Estate at Kwannawa area, Sokoto.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu, who announced this at the foundation laying of the estate held at Kwannawa area said, this was in consideration of the immense benefits of the programme to people in the state.
He said that was part of the state government‘s commitment toward providing Housing to low and medium-income earners.
The governor explained that work for the construction of 500 housing units at Wajeke in Wamakko local government area awarded by the government is going on smoothly.
Similarly, work for the construction of Gidan Salanke Housing Estate, abandoned by the immediate past administration is now progressing.
Aliyu said work for the execution of the two estates would be completed in no distant period.
The governor further said, the 136 Housing units at Kwannawa area, under the National Housing Unit Programme were purchased by the state government. According to him, payment to that effect has already been made.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Engineer Idris Mohammed Gobir, thanked the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for choosing Sokoto among the twelve states to benefit from the programme.
In his address, the minister of housing and urban development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa said 50,000 housing units would be constructed across the country under the programme as, 250 houses would be constructed under the programme in the state.
