Sokoto Gov’t Awards Contract For Rehabilitation Of 244 PHCs

The Sokoto State Government has awarded contract for the rehabilitation of all the 244 Primary Healthcare Centres in the state.

The award for the rehabilitation was to bring health care services to the door step of the people.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced this at the flag-off Campaign of 2025 Seasonal Malaria Cheme-prevention held in Achida town, in Wurno local government area of the state.

Represented by his Deputy Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, the Governor called on all community leaders, stakeholders and parents to actively support the exercise by mobilising families, and ensuring that every eligible child receive the malaria drugs.

Governor Aliyu said as part of efforts to supporting all public health interventions, government has provided motorcycles to all ‘Roll Back Malaria’ officers across the 23 local government areas to conduct a seamless exercise.

He also said the Malaria Elimination Agency EQA Referral Centre would be upgraded to serve as one of the best in the country.

In his address, the representative of the Sultan of Sokoto and District Head of Wurno, Alhaji Alhassan Cigari, said the programme would go a long way in preventing children from contacting malaria.

He reiterated the commitment of traditional rulers in the state towards supporting any programme aimed at safeguarding the health of the people.

Also commenting, the state Commissioner of Health, Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar Wurno, said all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the success of the exercise.
