Soludo gave the warning at the celebration of Onitsha Ofala festival and 22nd anniversary of the traditional ruler, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, yesterday at Ime Obi Onisha.

Soludo, who said Onitsha is the melting pot of  people of the South East, stated that the security of the commercial hub was very paramount to the socio-economic and commercial advancement of Igboland and the country at large.

“Onitsha is the homeland of the entire Igbo race because there is no person in the South East that does not have a relative in Onitsha and this includes the greater Onitsha which comprises of Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Idemili-North, Idemili South, as well as, Ogbaru local government areas.

“We cannot afford to allow touts to run down Onitsha which is the commercial nerve centre of the South East and we are clearing all illegal structures and undesirable elements in Onitsha”, Soludo stated, and assured that in two weeks something spectacular would happen in the commercial city that would flush out all criminals elements from the area.

Igwe Achebe while delivering his royal address said the poor outcome of the 2023 general elections and attendant  protests trailing the outcome would have been avoided if INEC had convincingly conducted a transparent, free, fair and credible polls considering massive resources available at the  disposal of the commission.
