Anambra State governor, Prof.Chukwuma Soludo, has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state of adequate security.
Soludo gave the assurance yesterday during the swearing-in of 1,500 corps members made up of 636 males and 864 females of the 2026 Batch “B” Stream 1 orientation course held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Umbaukwu, yesterday.
Represented at the event by the state commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, the governor advised the corps members to use the opportunity of their national service in the state to imbibe the spirit of resilience and entrepreneurship of the people.
Soludo particularly advised the corps members to key into the administration’s skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme which he emphasised was designed to provide the youth with practical opportunities for self-reliance, innovation and wealth creation.
Earlier in her speech, the director of the NYSC in the state, Mrs Pauline Ojisua stated that beyond the traditional camping activities, a proper arrangements have been made to provide the corps members skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training during the camping period.
“In a changing world, these skills will empower them (corps members) to become creators of opportunities and contributors to national development”, the state NYSC director emphasised.
Informing the corps members that the orientation course was designed to equip them with the values of discipline, patriotism, leadership, teamwork, and, selfless service that would guide in making sure that they delivered creditably the responsibilities that lie ahead for them during the one year national service, the state NYSC director charged the corps members to take all their training seriously.
She also urged them to embrace the spirit of unity, obey camp rules and regulations, as well as, conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of their respective families, institution and the nation.
