Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, has been sworn in for a second term after securing 422,664 votes in the November 8 governorship election.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly- renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital, where Soludo took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim.
The event drew prominent dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, among others.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared Soludo winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship poll.
He defeated his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 99,445 votes, while Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party came third with 37,753 votes.
INEC disclosed that 16 candidates contested the election. Out of the 2,788,864 registered voters in the state, 598,229 were accredited, with 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected across the 21 local government areas.
Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance ( APGA), recorded a landslide victory, winning in all 21 local government areas of the state.
