Wife of Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Mrs Nonye Soludo,  has appealed to the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to publicise the achievements of the government of her husband.

Soludo’s wife made the appeal when Dr. Emeka Odogwu-led state executive of the NUJ paid her a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, yesterday.

She told the NUJ leadership that her husband was not a “normal politician. So, he (Soludo) doesn’t believe in talking about his achievements in the public.”

“My husband (Soludo) is not the usual politician, as you know. His eyes are always on the ball. He will always tell you that he is on a mission that has a deadline.

“He has never said this to me. But you are aware that he has constructed over 425 kilometres of roads in the past three years”, Mrs Soludo stated.

She urged the NUJ to join in telling the public what Soludo government was doing so that the people would appreciate the efforts of the administration.

Mrs Soludo also told the NUJ that she is not also a politician. So, she is not also good at mouthing her husband’s achievements.

“I am only focusing on my 6-pillar health agenda for the people of the state”, she stated.

“Let me ask you: Is the governor not working? If you say that he is working, please help his administration to let the public know about his achievements”.

Mrs Soludo promised that she would bridge the gap that had existed between the administration and the NUJ since the administration came to power.

Earlier, the state NUJ chairman commended Soludo’s wife for her innovative programme that have encouraged backyard farming, healthy living among people of the state and various programmes that had improved womenfolk.

Dr. Odogwu told Soludo’s wife that it was because she had proven herself a critical voice for the voiceless that endeared her to the union resulting in the union honouring her as “Most Supportive Governor’s Wife NUJ 2024”.

The NUJ chairman pledged further support of the council to the government saying that the administration was on the path of progress.
