A renowned Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has declared that some people do not want peace in Katsina and other Northern states as they will attack and provoke repentant bandits to reverse their decision.

Gumi, who reacted to the decision of a notorious bandit leader, Isiya Kwashen Garwa, who reportedly accepted a peace deal in Katsina State, said peace is returning to the state by Allah’s will.

Gumi, who posted on his verified Facebook page yesterday, said those repentant bandits should be educated on why they need to embrace peace rather than attacked to provoke them to go back to their old ways.

“Peace is returning to Katsina, Allah’s willing.

“Some people who don’t want peace, will provoke them again by attacking them. It’s very important to educate them that they are used by capitalising on their ignorance and zeal for vengeance,” Gumi wrote.
Recall that a bandit leader, Isiya Kwashen Garwa, who was declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters, recently agreed to lay down arms alongside his men in Katsina State.
