Sophia Momodu, an entrepreneur and mother of singer Davido’s first child, has celebrated her 39th birthday with a heartfelt reflection on her life journey and experiences as a parent in an interview with fashion magazine MarieClaire.

Looking back on her 20s, Sophia said growing older has made her calmer and more mature. She added that experience has helped her see life differently.

She said:

“When I was in my 20s, I was a hothead. You couldn’t tell me anything. It was my way or the highway. The older I get, the wiser I feel. And because of this, I’m calmer.”

The fashion entrepreneur, who is the mother of Aurora Imade Adeleke, also said motherhood taught her the importance of putting herself first.

“When I first had my daughter, I started to see myself in her eyes. I started to see how she sees me. She taught me to love myself even harder — because I’m like, this person actually thinks that I’m the best person in the whole world and comes to me for every single thing,” she added.
