Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed optimism that the Southeast will surmount the present challenges confronting the region in the new year.
The President General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Senator Azuta Mbata, gave this assurance in his New Year message to Ndigbo, through the group’s spokesperson, Ezechi Chukwu.
He also extended warm New Year greetings to the Igbo people globally and commended their resilience, coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Senator Mbata commended the Ndigbo for their trust and support in his leadership, stressing their strength and hopefulness despite the adversities.
He said, “We remain strong, enterprising and hopeful. We pray for unity and perseverance to overcome present hurdles confronting us.”
The Ohanaeze leader expressed commitment to promoting love, unity and solidarity among the people, while emphasising equity and equality for all citizens.
Senator Mbata tasked Ndigbo with vision, focus, obedience to the law, good conduct, and constructive engagement, highlighting that collective progress is based on inclusivity, a responsive citizenry, and collaboration.
His words, “There is no gainsaying that despite the challenges confronting our nation in general, we remain strong, enterprising and hopeful people.
“I urge you to remain encouraged, by the grace of God, the future of the Igbo nation remains bright. Together, we shall overcome present challenges through unity, perseverance and faith in God.
“My leadership, as one founded on the tenets of community service, remains firmly committed to promoting love, unity and solidarity among Ndigbo. Under my watch, the National Executive Committee (NEC) is working diligently to create a just and fair society where equity and equality are guaranteed for all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or social status.
“As we move forward, my brothers and sisters, I call on Ndigbo to remain focused, law-abiding, peaceful and constructive in our engagements, knowing that our collective progress lies in inclusivity, unity and responsible citizenship.
“May this New Year bring peace, good health and renewed hope to every Igbo family at home and in diaspora.”
