A coalition of concerned individuals and support groups from Southern Kaduna has lauded Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for his contributions to the region, particularly in securing the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia.

At a press conference held in Kafanchan yesterday, the coalition praised Katung’s visionary leadership, highlighting his legislative efforts and development initiatives.

The convener of the group, Comrade Edward Pama Auta, described the establishment of the university in Kachia as a transformative development, emphasising that it would enhance education, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth.

He underscored the senator’s advocacy for federal assistance which resulted in the allocation of N1.6 billion to support ginger farmers affected by blight in 2024, as well as his motion addressing the outbreak of diphtheria in Southern Kaduna.

The group noted that despite being a first-term senator, Katung had led numerous projects, including the rehabilitation of a rural hospital in Fadan Ninzo, the construction of modern science laboratories, and the establishment of a digital economy centre in Kafanchan.

They highlighted that his interventions also encompass training and empowerment programmes for farmers and artisans, along with the installation of over 40 boreholes in communities and tertiary institutions.

Auta affirmed that the senator also facilitated the distribution of 10,000 bags of fertiliser, lorries of rice for the underprivileged, free medical supplies, scholarships for over 500 students, and a N100 million grant for vulnerable individuals.

While urging the public to continue supporting and praying for Senator Katung and other leaders, the coalition pointed out that no leader can succeed without the prayers and support of their constituents.

They further encouraged him to maintain his progressive agenda and expressed hope that more leaders like him would emerge to transform Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and Nigeria as a whole.
