The Southern Kaduna Integrity Forum (SKIF) says ongoing development projects in the region are becoming an important factor in how people assess political leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group pointed to projects such as the Federal University of Applied Sciences, the Federal Medical Centre and other government interventions in Southern Kaduna, saying such initiatives are influencing public discussions across the zone.

Speaking at a news conference in Kaduna, the Convener of the forum, Samuel Tajo, said residents were paying closer attention to visible projects and governance outcomes when evaluating elected officials.

According to him, development and service delivery should remain the basis for judging political leadership rather than party loyalty or political alignments.

Tajo also dismissed suggestions that the group’s position was influenced by recent political developments, insisting that its engagement had been consistent and focused on issues affecting Southern Kaduna.

He said the forum was created to promote the interests of the region and encourage greater participation in governance and political processes.

“The main objective of this movement is the party that matters, not any individual,” he said.

Tajo argued that projects and interventions delivered to communities were beginning to influence how people view representation and leadership in the area.

He added that governance, infrastructure and public service delivery are likely to remain major issues in political conversations in Southern Kaduna as attention gradually turns towards 2027.
