Protesters under the aegis of youth leaders and stakeholders of Southern Kaduna Senatorial District have staged protest, calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to intensify the ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriated N432 billion under the administration of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The group maintained that El-Rufai must face the law regarding allegations of phone bugging involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

Conveners of the protests which held in Kaduna, former youth leader Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Nasiru Jagaba and Chairman Southern Kaduna Peace and Security Network (SKPSN), Derek Christopher, said El-Rufai must give account of his administration and face the full wrath of the law.

According to the protesters, “ Today, we have gathered to address and correct a mischievous narrative being circulated by certain individuals who, under the guise of representing Southern Kaduna, recently assembled in Kafanchan to declare solidarity with the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai.

“We wish to make it unequivocally clear that those individuals are unknown and do not represent the people of Southern Kaduna and cannot speak on behalf of our communities. And we urge the general public to disregard the statements of these aliens with southern Kaduna vibes.

“They are a group of young men who, out of personal and financial interests, have chosen to ignore the painful experiences endured by the people of Southern Kaduna during the administration of Malam Nasiru El-Rufai” the protesters stated.

Also, other protesters under the aegis of the Nasiriya Movement stormed Kaduna metropolis in support of the ongoing probe of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).

The protesters, who marched through major streets of the state capital, called on the anti-graft agencies to ensure a thorough investigation into the former governor’s administration, alleging that over ₦432 billion was misappropriated while he was in office.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the national president of the Nasiriya Movement, Alhaji Garkuwa Ibrahim Babuga, said justice must be allowed to take its full course without interference or compromise.

Babuga urged the EFCC and ICPC to ascertain the exact amount allegedly embezzled, insisting that public funds belonging to taxpayers must be recovered in full if wrongdoing is established.
