The South West Zonal Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State for giving an ultimatum to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to either resign or resume work.
The youths who condemned the PDP’s ultimatum noted that before the ill health of Governor Akeredolu, he had been a strong pillar and voice for the voiceless.
Addressing journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, the state capital oyesterday, the youths led by the South West Zonal Youth Leader, Lawal “Paff” Kolade, said the people of the state and the southwest in general owed Akeredolu understanding and trust because he has been a leader for all season.
Kolade said, “Let’s not forget the days of Mr. Governor’s struggle for us. He stood firm and defended Ondo state and the Southwest as a whole when herdsmen went on a killing spree around here.”
While acknowledging the genuine concerns expressed by the people of the state regarding the whereabouts of the governor, the youth leader said recent days have witnessed remarkable progress in various projects overseen by the administration despite his absence.
His words, “The decision of Governor Akeredolu to seek rest and adjust their normal work schedule to allow him to fully recover is a testament to his human nature, reminding us that even leaders are not exempted from the trials of flesh and blood.’’
