Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has called on Nigerians to stage nationwide protests on Monday, urging citizens to take to the streets and public spaces across the country to express their dissatisfaction with the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Sowore made the call in a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, barely days after he was reportedly hospitalised following a police crackdown on Democracy Day protest in Abuja on Friday.
In the post, the activist urged Nigerians to mobilise in large numbers across cities, towns and communities nationwide to deman President Bola Tinubu’s ouster.
“Nigerians must come out on Monday and make their voices heard in every city, town, street, and public square across the country,” Sowore wrote.
“The message must be loud and clear! #TinubuMustGo,” he added.
The development followed concerns raised by human rights organisation, Amnesty International, which recently condemned what it described as a crackdown on peaceful protesters in the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement issued on Friday, Amnesty International said Sowore was taken to hospital after security personnel allegedly disrupted demonstrators during the Democracy Day protest.
