Chairman of the newly promoted Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Sporting Lagos football club, Godwin Enakhena has said, Sporting Lagos is fortified for the 2023/2024 season.

The newly promoted Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side, Sporting Lagos football club will be playing its opening match with  Gombe United which was initially billed for Saturday, September 30 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos, but will now take place on Monday, October 2nd at the same venue, according to the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, Davidson Owumi, the postponement was necessitated due to logistics reasons involving the venue of the match.

Speaking with Leadership ahead of the game,  Godwin Enakhena said Sporting Lagos is prepared, very prepared for the season. “We have fortified our team and everywhere we did not have quality we have supply and we are ready for the season.”

Both Sporting Lagos and Gombe United will be meeting for the first time in the history of the NPFL. Sporting Lagos secured promotion to the top flight after finishing among the top four in the Nigeria National League playoff.
