The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a 25-year-old suspected female ammunition supplier, Nafisa Usman, with 200 rounds of brand new ammunitions.
The suspect was apprehended at a motor park in Kano after she was found with the ammunitions concealed inside bags of garri and rice.
She allegedly confessed to have purchased the ammunition in Nassarwa State and was transferring them to Kankara LGA in Katsina State.
The DSS further revealed that the suspect, who hails from Zango village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, was intercepted in Kano during an operation following a tip-off.
She confessed that the ammunition was supplied to her from Lafia in Nasarawa State and delivered to Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano for unword transportation to neighbouring Katsina State for a bandits in the Kankara Forest.
The suspect also confessed that she had been involved in the trade for about two months, adding that one “Teso,” whom she described as working with a soldier in Lafia, used to send the ammunition to her.
She further said she supplied the ammunition to a bandit identified as Mallam Haruna, said to be operating in the Kankara forest.
According to her, she was introduced to the said bandit by a man identified as Sulaiman, a livestock trader based in Kano.
She claimed to have conducted transactions worth about N5 million, supplying ammunition to Haruna and other individuals identified as Buba and Abu, who were also said to be operating in the forest.
