Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, will deliverthe keynote address at the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), 2025 national transport conference.
The conference will address transport infrastructure development and modernisation; governance, policy and institutional frameworks; technology and innovation in transport systems; inclusiveness and participatory transport development, among other pressing issues.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, Prince Segun Ochuko Obayendo, president and chairman of the governing council of CIOTA Nigeria, said, “The 7th National Transport Conference seeks to assess the current state of Nigeria’s transport Infrastructure and identify key pathways for modernisation and reform.
“It will also deliberate on effective governance, Institutional, and regulatory frameworks for a coordinated, transparent, and accountable transport system.
Explore innovative technologies, sustainable models, and public-private partnerships that can boost Nigeria’s global competitiveness. It also strengthens collaboration among government, private sector, academia, and professional bodies towards advancing Nigeria’s transport development agenda.”
He further stated that the National Transport Conference remains the flagship annual gathering of CIOTA, bringing together transport professionals, policymakers, captains of industry, academia, and investors from across Nigeria and beyond.
It provides a veritable platform for cross-sector dialogue, knowledge sharing, and the design of actionable strategies that will shape the future of the Nigerian transport, logistics, and supply chain ecosystem.
This year’s edition is particularly critical as Nigeria intensifies efforts to modernise its transport infrastructure, strengthen governance, and attract global investments into the sector.
Also speaking, Odewumi Samuel, a professor of transport and logistics and the chairman of the 7th national transport conference planning committee, noted that “the annual event has become a premier platform for shaping the discourse around Nigeria’s transport and logistics development, uniting government policymakers, industry operators, investors, and academics in pursuit of sustainable mobility solutions.”
He further stated, “As the chairman of the conference planning committee, I affirm that this year’s conference, themed ‘Repositioning Nigeria’s Transport Infrastructure and Governance Models for Global Competitiveness,” is timely and critical to national development aspirations. The theme underscores the urgent need to re-engineer our transport infrastructure and governance systems to meet international standards.”
