Key stakeholders in Nigeria’s digital and industrial sectors have intensified efforts to strengthen the country’s digital economy by ensuring that both ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) and the private sector adopt digital solutions in their operations.

They argued that digital governance is an important part of Nigeria’s economic development.

Among others, stakeholders, in addition to promoting a digital ecosystem in their fields, believe that a platform where local and international players can exchange knowledge and review their operations will help Nigeria catch up with global digital waves.

Consequently, they have resolved to hold an “Industrial and Commercial Expo in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Among the key players expected at the expo is the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, which has confirmed its participation. There is consensus among operators that the commission’s involvement will raise awareness of data protection, digital governance, cybersecurity, and innovation as part of broader efforts to boost economic growth in Nigeria.

Except for any last-minute changes, the three-day event will take place from July 28 to 30, 2026, in Abuja and will bring together government agencies, private-sector operators such as manufacturers, investors, and development partners to discuss industrial development and business opportunities.

In a press statement made available to journalists in Abuja yesterday, the organisers said the expo, with the theme, “Driving Nigeria’s Industrial Renaissance through Trade, Innovation and Global Partnerships,” will provide a platform for discussions on investment promotion, enterprise growth and stronger collaboration between government and businesses.

The event coordinator, Engr. Innocent Ogu said the Nigeria Data Protection Commission had confirmed its participation, describing the event as an opportunity to engage with stakeholders on the issues affecting the digital space.

Ogu said the commission’s involvement and other MDAs’ preparations for the expo, organised by African Legacy International Media Services, reflect the growing recognition of digital governance as an important part of Nigeria’s economic development.
