Stakeholders Push For Productivity In Workplace

Participants at a conference have pushed for more productivity in the workplace through the employment of emotional intelligence, discipline, dedication, strategic thinking and networking to create a conducive environment for career progression.

This was the highlight of a  Career Progression Conference held in Abuja with the Theme “Decoding Office Dynamics: A Strategic Approach to Mastering Office Dynamics”.

The Managing Director of Star Sapphire Resources and the Convener of the conference, Ambassador Ego Philips, told reporters that the focus is to get the employee to master his job, address conflicts and make meaningful impact in the workplace.

She said “The focus is for the employee in the workplace in the corporate world.  The employees are the engine room making sure that organizations work.

So, we are talking about how to navigate the corporate ladder and the strategies to become more productive as individuals that will impact the organization positively.”

 

She added that the conference is to help workers enhance their visibility, interpersonal relationship, understanding the vision of their organizations and aligning with management to address conflicts  as well as work with peers and subordinates towards achieving shared organizational vision.

 

Mr. Amu Ogbeide, the Chairman of the Star Sapphire Group, during his remarks, stressed the need for corporate entities to have Vision, Value and Vibrancy, adding that Nigeria needs leaders who are very transformational and understand strategic thinking.

 

He told reporters in an interview that “the way the country is going now we need leaders at the private and public sector, who can relate well with our young people in the workplace, teach   and share the vision in a way that makes sense and take them through the right path to be more productive at the national level, at the organizational level and at individual level.”

The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Olushola Odunsanya, the Director General of the National Centre For Technology Management (NACETEM) in his presentation entitled “Strategic Approaches To Mastering Office Dynamics”   said the office dynamics is a way to achieve a goal which is determined by variables such as culture, leadership and the impact of the environment, which he noted must be well- programmed to drive productivity in the workplace.

 

He called for investment in the education of the citizenry in order to harness the potential within the work system to grow organizations as well as grow the nation.

 

Sa’adatu Faruk, Assistant Director, Career Development in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in her presentation entitled “Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Resolution in Workplace with Focus on Managing Your Superiors”, advised workers to ensure a positive attitude in the work environment to manage conflicts and create a seamless and conducive work environment.

 

Also speaking during her presentation, entitled “ Effective  communication  Strategies for Career Progression  in Workplace  Mindset Mastering  For Positioning  for Promotion and Opportunities”  the CEO of Centrestage Company, Dr. Naomi  Osemedua, highlighted the  power of communication and networking in the work system.

 

“It is very important that we highlight the place of networking, they often say your network is your net worth and a lot of people don’t understand how powerful this is,” she said.

 

She also emphasized the need for strategic and personal relationship and goal setting built on vision and confidence.
