Stakeholders in the surveying sector have called for better security arrangements and protections for the surveyors while carrying out their duties across the country.
Speaking at the sideline of Women-in-Surveying (WIS), FCT 2024 seminar in Abuja yesterday, one of the speakers, and a senior lecturer at the Geometrics Department, ABU Zaria, Dr Moses Mefe said the protection of surveyors is very important as they are the first to always enter the terrain of any project. He noted that most of the time, the surveyor is exposed to danger.
He called on the federal government to make proper arrangements to protect the lives of surveyors while doing their jobs.
Also speaking on the event, the coordinator, WIS, Surv. Ajoke Fatimah Akinola said, “In an ever-evolving professional landscape, the contributions of women in the surveying profession and beyond have increasingly proven invaluable. This seminar is a testament to our collective commitment to fostering an environment where women can thrive and lead and inspire others within this vital industry.”
Speaking on the theme for the year, “Inspiring the Career Woman, Positioning Her for Excellence,” she said it “resonates deeply with our mission.
It underscores our dedication to empowering women, providing them with the necessary tools, opportunities, and support to excel in their careers. Today, we gather to share insights, experiences, and strategies that will inspire us to push the boundaries of what‘s possible.“
