Wang who highlighted the partnership between StarTimes Nigeria and Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau as the driving force behind the event, said Chinese movies and TV dramas would be broadcasted in English, French, Portuguese, and local languages such as Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and Swahili, to promote understanding between China and African countries.

He emphasised that the event would promote cooperation between China and Nigeria’s movie industries, which have both made significant gains in the past few decades.

The 2023 Beijing TV Dramas and Movies Broadcasting Season will showcase various genres, including romance, family, Chinese kung-fu, and documentaries on StarTimes.

The cultural counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Li Xuda, stressed the importance of the partnership in promoting cultural ties between the two countries.

The DG’s representative of NTA, who represented Nollywood, the biggest movie industry in Nigeria, emphasised that this partnership would foster artistic, cultural, and bilateral relations between both countries. This event would provide a platform for Nigeria’s movie industry to interact and learn from China’s movie industry, which has made significant strides in the global movie market.
