Workers of the Oyo State Government on Monday defied the nationwide strike ordered by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) as they reported for duty at the state secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan.

Security was also beefed up around the state secretariat as combined operatives of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun and the Department of State Services (DSS) were seen with their patrol vans strategically located around the Secretariat.

Although activities could be said to be low as at the time of the report, workers were going about their normal duties.

People who also have business to do within the Secretariat were also seen going about their businesses.

However, banks within Ibadan, the Oyo State capital were shut while those banks who had their workers reporting for duties did not attend to customers.
