The Progressive Students Movement (PSM), a prominent Pan-African student organization, has commended the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, for his proactive approach in tackling crime and social vices.

The group also called for a stronger partnership in addressing rape, sexual harassment, and cultism in the state.

Speaking after a meeting with the police commissioner on Friday at the Ogun State Command, PSM President Comrade (Amb.) Okereafor Bestman raised concerns over cases of sexual abuse involving school proprietors and teachers.

“Our attention has been drawn to the evil acts of some school proprietors and teachers who sexually molest and rape female students.

“We call for swift measures to halt such acts,” Bestman said.

He added that PSM has proposed an awareness campaign to educate the public on the dangers of crime and the importance of upholding moral values.

The student leader also praised Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for prioritizing security in the region, citing his administration’s support for security agencies and the successful rescue of kidnap victims as evidence of his commitment.

In response, Commissioner Ogunlowo reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to maintaining a strong partnership with the student group.

“I promise that the already existing relationship between the command and the organization will be sustained going forward,” he said.

PSM reiterated its commitment to collaborating with law enforcement to curb criminal activities and ensure a safer environment for students and residents across Ogun State.
